Garena launched Garena introduced the Garena Professional League (GPL) in the month of May 2012, a 6 month professional gaming league which includes hundreds of online games. The inaugural season of GPL features six teams comprised of professionals League of Legends players. They are comprised of the top players in their respective nations. GPL games are recorded and broadcast live on-line with commentary. These games are made available to fans on the official site. Garena Premier League 2013 includes two teams that are new to Taiwan and Vietnam and Vietnam, which bring the number of teams to eight. These teams include: AHQ (Asia), Saigon Fantastic Five (Saigon Jokers), Bangkok Titans (Bangkok), Kuala Lumpur Hunters(Kuala Lumpur), Manila Eagles(Manila) Taiwan Assassins, and Singapore Sentinels. The stadium opened in November of 2014. Garena e-Sports Stadium, a dedicated venue for esports has opened located in Neihu District, Taipei. This studio was partly built to house games from the League of Legends Masters Series, the world's top LoL Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau league. The tournament was a spinoff of GPL. In January 2015, Garena launched Iron Solari League which is a women's League of Legends tournament in the Philippines. It is played in the second month of each month. This event is intended to promote participation among underrepresented groups, and it's accessible to all who identify as female. Alongside tournaments for competitive play, Garena also organizes events to cater to users to get together and make connections offline. This includes an annual Garena Carnival held in Singapore and Malaysia.
